Identity Compass (IC)

Identity Compass is a software package that, based on answers to an online questionnaire, creates a profile of personal thinking preferences and motivations. Thinking preferences play an important role in how information is processed in the mind. Thinking preferences are indicators that help better understand behavior and communication styles. The IC consultant is trained to interpret a profile and provide a detailed explanation of the meaning of someone’s thinking preferences in relation to communication, collaboration, motivation, leadership, and the person’s social competencies.

Business Applications

When is Identity Compass® used?

  • Human Resource Management: Recruiting, training, and developing personnel

  • Selection: Identifying people with the right qualities and capabilities for departments and teams

  • Solving organizational problems related to communication, collaboration, and motivation

  • Informing managers during mergers, reorganizations, and outplacement

  • Recognizing and preventing burnout / promoting mental well-being

  • Coaching leaders and teams

Thinking Preferences

Identity Compass analyzes 50+ thinking preferences to reveal what drives behavior, performance, and collaboration. It answers critical business questions: Why do some individuals excel in sales or leadership? Why do certain teams struggle to work together? The insights lie in thinking preferences.

With thousands of possible combinations, IC profiles require expert interpretation—software alone cannot capture the nuances. The IC consultant decodes these patterns to deliver actionable insights that drive results through targeted coaching, training, and leadership development.

The outcome? Teams that communicate better, leaders who inspire, and employees who thrive in roles that match their natural strengths.

Contextual Variations

IC assesses thinking preferences across multiple environments:

  • Professional – workplace dynamics
  • Private Relationship – personal connections

Each profile includes a comprehensive report, followed by an in-depth consultation where the IC consultant explains the thinking preferences, their connections, and practical implications.

For teams, group profile discussions are particularly powerful -  suddenly, behaviors make sense, and mutual understanding deepens.

The IC consultant also provides actionable recommendations for coaching, training, or development strategies to help individuals and teams reach their full potential.

Motivation and Mental Well-being

In addition to measuring thinking preferences, IC also includes:

  • Job Motivation: An instrument to measure an employee’s motivation in their role.

  • Mental Wellbeing: An instrument to measure employees’ mental well-being.

Why Identity Compass® is Different

Unlike personality assessments (MBTI, Insights, Belbin) that categorize people into boxes, colors, or types, Identity Compass reveals the underlying thinking preferences that shape personality itself—the building blocks beneath the surface.

The IC Advantage:

Granular insights – See exactly how someone processes information and makes decisions, not just broad personality traits

True individuality – Every profile is unique. No two people fit the same mold

Dynamic, not static – IC shows not only why traditional tools place someone in a particular category, but also reveals their potential to develop and adapt

No judgment – IC isn't a test with right or wrong answers. It measures what naturally drives each person

The Result?
Deep, actionable understanding that powers real transformation through targeted coaching and training. Where other tools tell you what type someone is, Identity Compass shows you why and, more importantly, how they can grow.
